Following her debut in TNA Wrestling, where she attacked Indi Hartwell and aligned with Daria Rae, Zoey Serrano has continued to refine her professional identity. Serrano has characterized her move to TNA as a “rebirth” that allows her to be more authentic than she was during her tenure with WWE. Reflecting on her time in WWE, Serrano expressed disappointment that she could not fully showcase her true personality. She noted that while her in-ring work was strong, the pressure of performing for millions made it difficult to project her character. She also addressed personal matters, clarifying that she is straight and an ally to the LGBT+ community, noting that fans are often surprised when she shares photos with her husband. Additionally, Serrano ~~also shared details regarding past~~ recounted a health ~~challenges, including~~ challenge involving a salivary gland stone that required her to use heavy makeup to conceal swelling during a scheduled main event in Memphis. Regarding the broader landscape of women’s wrestling, Serrano stated that her primary concern is not oversexualization, but rather the frequent reduction of allotted in-ring time. She estimated that in approximately 90–95% of matches, women’s time is cut, requiring performers to prepare contingency plans—referred to as “Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C”—to reach match finishes quickly if instructed. To ensure career longevity following significant knee injuries, Serrano has transitioned to a grounded in-ring style focused on power and ~~suplexes, abandoning~~ suplexes. She has embraced an aggressive, hard-hitting approach inspired by performers like Eddie Guerrero and Stone Cold Steve Austin, noting that being told she “wrestles like a dude” is the ~~missile dropkick.~~ highest compliment she has received. She remains committed to a purist approach, previously stating, “I don’t need to shake my ass, I don’t need the 15-second viral video.”
