12-year-old rescued from near drowning on Chalkidiki beach in Greece

On a recent morning, a 12-year-old boy began to drown at the Chania beach in the Chalkidiki region of northern Greece. Lifeguards Sofia Kegagioglu and Antonis Volfis of Bayline Services responded quickly, delivering oxygen, performing rescue breaths and placing the child in a recovery position.

Emergency services (EKAB) arrived within minutes, providing additional assistance and transporting the boy by ambulance to the EKAB medical centre in Kassandria. He was then transferred to Hippocrates Hospital in Thessaloniki for further examination, where his condition stabilized. The rescue is the third child saved in the Kassandria area within a week, according to the NGO "Children Save Lives", and the boy’s parents publicly thanked the rescuers.
