12th International Summer University on Greek Language held in Sydney
The 12th International Summer University, titled ‘Greek Language, Culture and Media’, is being held at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. The event, which runs from September 6 to 11, focuses on the evolution and future of the Greek language in the Antipodes under the theme ‘The Greek Language in Australia: From Memory to the Future’.
The program is organized by the University of Ioannina in collaboration with the Greek Studies Program at UNSW and Unity in Philia. It features participation from academic, educational, and cultural organizations from Greece and Australia.
Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas sent a greeting to the event, noting that the Greek language serves as a foundation of identity and a bridge connecting the diaspora to their roots. Archbishop Makarios of Australia also attended, delivering a speech regarding the Greek language in Australia.
