190 Senegalese migrants arrive in Morocco via three pirogues
A total of 190 Senegalese migrants arrived in Dakhla, Morocco, via three pirogues between October 2 and October 4. The group includes approximately 60 minors and one woman.
According to testimonies from the rescued migrants, the vessels departed from Saint-Louis, Senegal, and the Gambia. The passengers were attempting to reach Spain by sea.
Authorities report a recent increase in irregular migration attempts from both Senegalese and Gambian coasts during August and September. Currently, at least 300 Senegalese migrants are staying in reception centers in Bir-Guindouz and Al Argoub. Additionally, several failed migration attempts along the Moroccan coast have led to the arrest of about 30 organizers and ship captains, including some Senegalese nationals.
