2026 August total solar eclipse prompts organized viewing sites in Spain's Navarra
A total solar eclipse will occur on 12 August 2026, with totality lasting under two minutes along a path that includes northern Russia, the Arctic, Iceland, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, parts of Europe, Africa and North America. The event will be partial in many other regions and will not be directly visible from Guatemala, where officials advise following live broadcasts.
In Spain’s autonomous community of Navarra, authorities have set up 20 official observation points offering more than 42,000 seats. Tickets cost €5 plus a handling fee and grant access to transport, free parking, restrooms, medical assistance, food, water, shade and culturally programmed activities such as scientific talks, concerts and workshops. Visitors will receive ISO‑12312‑2 compliant safety glasses. Additional facilities include caravan and motorhome zones in 11 municipalities and children's areas in 12 towns. Security measures such as controlled capacity, meeting points and indoor shelters are in place to ensure safety and comfort.
