2026 European Used-Car Market Sees Stock Surge and Price Gaps

AutoScout24 remains a key gateway to the European automotive market in 2026, offering both new and used listings across multiple countries. The platform enables rapid cross‑border price comparison, highlighting strong demand for hybrid models and SUVs and revealing noticeable price differentials between national markets. Budget constraints keep used‑car listings dominant, while buyers increasingly factor total ownership cost beyond the sticker price.

AAA Data reports that French dealer inventories jumped 23.8% in June 2026, with 209,200 vehicles added to stock. Despite the monthly surge, cumulative dealer stock fell to 1.102 million units. Leasing contributions held steady at about 31% of supplies, while private sellers accounted for 78.9% of new entries. Diesel and gasoline cars still represent roughly three‑quarters of arrivals, hybrids reached 17.6% penetration and electric vehicles grew to 6.1% of the monthly intake.
