Ferrari Luce first production model expected to fetch over $1 million at Monterey auction
Ferrari’s inaugural production electric super‑car, the Luce chassis 0, will be sold by RM Sotheby’s during Monterey Car Week in August. The one‑off vehicle, created through Ferrari’s Tailor Made programme, features a white Madreperla semi‑gloss paint that shifts from green to violet, white Le Mans metallic leather interior and bespoke white wheels and brake calipers. Technical specifications include an 800 V architecture, a 122 kWh lithium‑ion battery, four electric motors delivering a combined 1 050 hp, 0‑100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.
RM Sotheby’s expects the auction to exceed $1.1 million, roughly double the Luce’s base price of about €550‑600 k. Proceeds will be directed to the Ferrari Foundation to support educational and charitable programmes. The sale marks an unusual strategy for the marque, turning the first electric model into an immediate collector’s piece rather than delivering it to a private buyer.
The Luce’s launch has sparked debate among enthusiasts, with some critics objecting to Ferrari’s move toward electrification, but the unique configuration and historic significance are expected to drive strong bidding activity.
