2026 Hockey World Cup kicks off in Netherlands and Belgium as Argentina and Chile squads gear up

The 2026 Men's and Women's Hockey World Cup will be held from 15 to 30 August 2026 in Amstelveen, Netherlands and Wavre, Belgium. Argentina’s men’s team (Los Leones) and women’s team (Las Leonas) are finalising preparations. The men will compete in Group A with the Netherlands, New Zealand and Japan, opening against Japan on 16 August; the women are in Group B with the United States, Germany and Scotland, opening against the United States on 15 August. Argentina’s men recall a bronze medal in The Hague 2014, while the women have world titles from 2002 and 2010.

Chile’s women’s team, known as Las Diablas, has travelled to Amsterdam. Coached by Cristóbal Rodríguez and captained by Manuela Urroz, they are also in Group A with the Netherlands, Japan and Australia. Their debut is on 15 August against the host nation. The squad hopes to reach the knockout stage, aiming for a historic top‑eight finish. Both Argentine and Chilean teams view the tournament as a chance to improve their global standing.
