2027 French presidential race: Asselineau warns of US‑China shift, Glucksmann seeks PS alliance

François Asselineau, a candidate for the 2027 French presidential election, told the Tocsin channel that the recent meeting between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing represented a historic turning point. He argued that China is applying Sun Tzu’s strategy, that U.S. semiconductor sanctions have led China to cease buying Nvidia chips and boost its own technology, and that the situation raises the risk of conflict over Taiwan. Asselineau called for France to regain its independence by leaving the European Union, the euro and NATO.

Eurodeputy Raphaël Glucksmann, also positioning himself for the 2027 presidential contest, said an alliance with the Socialist Party (PS) is essential. He described missing such a partnership as “impardonnable,” urged a simple, rapid process for cooperation, and referenced upcoming internal PS meetings and a potential two‑stage primary. Glucksmann emphasised the need to unite the centre‑left to win the election and warned against a fragmented left.
