30-year-old arrested in Lubin for serial shop theft causing 7,000 PLN losses
Police in the western Polish town of Lubin detained a 30‑year‑old resident suspected of a series of shop burglaries that spanned several months. Investigators linked repeated thefts at local supermarkets and discount stores after reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements. The suspect stole cosmetics, clothing, food items and high‑strength alcohol, hiding the goods under clothing or in a bag before exiting the premises.
The cumulative damage was assessed at nearly 7,000 złoty. Based on the evidence, prosecutors filed charges of theft committed in a continuous manner, an offense punishable by up to five years in prison. The suspect was found with some of the stolen merchandise at the time of arrest. The case will be decided by a court.
Police emphasized that the operation demonstrates the effectiveness of community reporting and surveillance in preventing repeat petty crimes.
