32‑year‑old Bydgoszcz man detained for brazen jewelry thefts and fraud

Police from the Wyżyny precinct in Bydgoszcz arrested a 32‑year‑old local man after a series of daring street thefts. The suspect stripped two women of gold chains and robbed an elderly shopper of a money‑filled pouch, then sold the stolen items while falsely claiming ownership, constituting two counts of fraud. Investigators linked the three incidents to the same individual and presented five charges: three for theft and two for fraud. The total loss to victims exceeds 7,000 zł. A court ordered his detention for the next two months, with a potential prison term of up to eight years if convicted.

The case underscores heightened police vigilance in the city’s Wyżyny district following reports of similar robberies on Wojska Polskiego, Szpitalna and Glinka streets.
