Crans-Montana bar fire still hospitalises 38 four months on
A New Year’s Eve blaze at the Le Constellation bar in Crans‑Montana, Switzerland, killed 41 people – 23 Swiss, 8 French, 6 Italians and others – and injured more than 115. Four months later, Swiss authorities report that 38 victims remain in hospital, 22 of them in Switzerland and 16 in France and Italy.
The seriously injured have been treated in specialised clinics across Belgium, Germany, France and Italy. The investigation focuses on the French owners, Jacques and Jessica Moretti, who face charges of negligent homicide, bodily injury and public endangerment, amid findings that the bar had not undergone a safety inspection since 2019.
