3DCP Group completes large-scale 3D-printed housing in Denmark

3DCP Group has completed the Skovsporet project in Holstebro, Denmark, which features 36 3D-printed student apartments. Spanning 1,650 square meters, the development serves VIA University College and was designed by SAGA Space Architects and MS+.

The project is notable for being Europe’s largest printed housing development and functions as permanent social housing within Denmark’s regulated financial framework. The construction utilized a COBOD BOD3 printer to create six clusters of apartments, with individual units ranging from 39 to 50 square meters.

Sustainability was a key focus, utilizing locally sourced concrete and low-carbon cement. One component, a bicycle shed, used MEVOcem, which offers an 84% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to regular concrete. The project also minimized environmental impact by printing around existing trees, removing only 10% of them. The construction cost was approximately €1,880 per square meter, which falls below the statutory maximum budget for subsidized housing in Norway.
