41‑year‑old attacks woman at Łódź railway station, arrested

On the morning of 22 May 2026, a 41‑year‑old man kicked a 55‑year‑old woman in the head as she descended the stairs at Łódź‑Żabieniec railway station. The assault caused a head bruise, rib fracture and a hematoma, and the victim was taken to hospital. Police released video footage of the attack and later arrested the suspect on 9 June. During questioning the attacker gave a bizarre justification, claiming he thought the woman was reaching for his partner’s purse, a claim not supported by the evidence. Prosecutors highlighted the suspect’s extensive criminal record for violent offences and indicated he faces up to 7½ years in prison.
