5G Leads to Faster Phone Battery Drain as Budget 5G Model Unveiled

The rollout of 5G networks can cause smartphones to discharge more quickly because devices maintain simultaneous connections to 4G and 5G cells and constantly search for stronger signals. This dual‑connectivity and signal‑seeking behavior increases power consumption, leading to noticeably shorter battery life when 5G is active.

Separately, Chinese brand iQOO announced its upcoming budget 5G handset, the Z11 Lite 5G. The phone will feature a 6.5 inch IPS LCD display with 90 Hz or 120 Hz refresh rates, a Dimensity 6300 processor, 8 GB RAM, a 6,500 mAh battery and 44 W fast‑charging support. It is slated for launch on 24 July 2026 with an expected price of about 11,000 rupees (≈5,400 TL). The model has not yet been confirmed for sale in Turkey.
