68-year-old man injured after train collision at Trenčín railway station, Slovakia

On the evening of 1 August 2024, a 68‑year‑old man entered the tracks at Trenčín railway station without authorization. A passenger train traveling from Bratislava to Púchov struck him between the second and third platforms. The man sustained injuries to his lower limb and was taken to hospital; his condition was reported as not life‑threatening.

Police spokesperson Petra Klenková said the driver underwent a breath test that was negative for alcohol. Toxicological samples were taken from the victim, who is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. The incident is under police investigation, and railway police documented the event. The Slovak Railways (ZSSK) warned passengers of possible delays due to speed restrictions imposed because of high temperatures affecting rail traffic.
