8th Central Pay Commission extends memorandum deadline to June 2026

The 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has completed seven months of consultations regarding pay, pensions, and service conditions for central government employees and pensioners in India. The Commission, headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, has held meetings in locations including Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Jammu & Kashmir, with upcoming sessions planned for Chennai, Puducherry, Chandigarh, and Jaipur.

To accommodate stakeholder feedback, the deadline for submitting memorandums via the official online platform has been extended to June 15, 2026. This is described as the final extension for employee unions and associations to present their representations.

Representing approximately 10 lakh retired employees, the Bharat Pensioners Samaj (BPS) has submitted several demands to the Commission. These include increasing the frequency of pay and pension reviews from every ten years to every five years, and implementing quarterly Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) hikes to combat inflation. The BPS is also advocating for a higher minimum pension, a 3.83 fitment factor, and a minimum basic pay of ₹69,000. Additionally, they have proposed that Dearness Relief be merged with basic pensions once it exceeds 25% of the basic pay.
