8th Pay Commission to hold key meetings in Mumbai
The 8th Pay Commission is currently conducting meetings and consultation processes regarding salary and pension updates for central government employees and pensioners in India.
A significant meeting is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on October 22 and 23. This follows a previous meeting held in Bengaluru on October 7 and 8. These sessions aim to gather feedback from employee unions, pensioner organizations, and other stakeholders regarding salary structures, pensions, and allowances.
The Commission, chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, was established by the central government on November 3, 2025. It has an 18-month timeline to complete its report. Recent administrative updates include changes to rules for appointing expert advisors to assist with financial analysis and wage structure studies.
