9-year-old boy killed in armed attack in Irapuato, Guanajuato
On 6 June, a gunmen duo on a motorcycle opened fire on a 26‑year‑old man in the Las Huertas neighbourhood of Irapuato, Guanajuato. The shooting also struck two children, including 9‑year‑old Alejandro Guadalupe Chagoya Torres, known locally as “Winnie”, who died from his injuries. A girl of the same age was wounded.
The attack was linked by residents to a known perpetrator nicknamed “El Tuta”, previously suspected in a similar incident on 30 April that claimed a three‑year‑old’s life. Alejandro’s funeral was held on Monday with a mass of presence, attended by family, friends and community members, and the municipal cemetery was the final resting place.
Local authorities cordoned the scene and began an investigation, while transport company Aldo provided vehicles to assist the family during the ceremonies.
