A-5 highway near Madrid to see lane closures from July 13

From midnight on Monday 13 July, the Ministry of Transport will begin major lane closures on the A‑5 motorway between Alcorcón, Móstoles and Navalcarnero. The work, costing €15.4 million, will rehabilitate 27 kilometres of the road, repairing worn‑out asphalt layers. The main restriction occupies the right‑hand lane and part of the centre lane in the Madrid‑bound direction between kilometre markers 24.4 and 23.5, leaving the left and central lanes open. These closures will remain in force continuously until 23:59 on 26 August, with additional mobile lane cuts operating nightly until the end of August. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the M‑50 or toll R‑5, and to allow extra travel time during peak periods. The project forms part of a broader national road‑maintenance programme that has invested €860 million in the Madrid region since 2018.
