A Coruña train station closure impacts travel to Santiago and Madrid
The A Coruña train station will undergo a temporary closure from November 5 to November 11 due to infrastructure works conducted by Adif. These works are deemed incompatible with train circulation, necessitating an alternative transport plan by Renfe.
Travelers connecting A Coruña with Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, Ourense, and Madrid will face disruptions. Renfe will implement road transport for several Regional, Medium Distance, Avant, and High Speed services. These changes are expected to increase travel times and alter departure and arrival schedules for various lines, including connections to Betanzos and Ferrol.
Due to the rail disruptions, flight prices from Alvedro to Madrid have seen a significant increase, with some fares reaching up to triple the cost of train tickets. While air travel offers a faster 50-minute duration, Renfe train prices remain more affordable, ranging between 29 and 71 euros, compared to flight prices that can exceed 300 euros.
