A Coruña train station infrastructure works

Overview

The A Coruña intermodal train station is scheduled for a temporary closure from November 5 to November 11 or 12 due to essential infrastructure works conducted by Adif. These works are considered incompatible with train circulation and involve the final stages of construction, including the replacement of a provisional platform used since late 2024.

To maintain mobility, Renfe has implemented an alternative transport plan using bus connections. Regional, Medium Distance, Avant, and High Speed services destined for Vigo, Ourense, and Madrid-Chamartín will be replaced by road travel between A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. Additionally, services traveling via Lugo and Monforte de Lemos, as well as those heading to Ferrol, will operate by road between A Coruña and Betanzos-Infestaltos.

These disruptions are expected to increase overall travel times. The closure has also impacted regional travel costs, with flight prices from Alvedro to Madrid reportedly increasing significantly, sometimes reaching triple the cost of train tickets.
