A1 Margina–Holdea motorway construction reaches 75% completion

Construction on the A1 Margina–Holdea section has surpassed 75% completion, with tunnel excavations reaching their final meters. This stage represents one of the most challenging aspects of the project.

In addition to tunnel work, crews are progressing on viaducts, passages, and road layers. Approximately 80 concrete beams, each 40 meters long, have been produced, with installation underway for the first passage and upcoming for a kilometer-long viaduct. Outside the tunnels, the laying of the binder layer has begun in both the Margina and Holdea areas.

The project, executed by the UMB GRUP and Euro-Asfalt association, is funded through the PNRR with a value of 1.82 billion lei (excluding VAT). Once finished, this 9.13-kilometer section will complete the connection between Lugoj and Deva, ensuring uninterrupted traffic on the A1 motorway between central Romania and the western border.
