A14 pig spillage triggers major delays in Cambridgeshire

A lorry on the westbound carriageway of the A14 near Easton and Brampton shed a load of dead pigs on the morning of 31 July 2026. Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the "unfortunate spillage" and warned drivers, especially those with children, to avoid the scene.

National Highways closed one lane of the A14 to allow specialist crews to clean the road. The blockage caused queues and delays of up to 70 minutes, but no injuries or arrests were reported.

Drivers were advised to take alternate routes while the cleanup continued, and traffic monitoring site Inrix recorded the lane closure and associated congestion.
