Livestock transporter accident in Pegau

Overview

A serious traffic accident occurred on the B186 near Pegau involving a livestock transporter carrying over 140 pigs and a Dodge RAM. The collision happened when the truck driver attempted a left turn onto the B186, failing to see the oncoming vehicle. Following the impact, the Dodge RAM caught fire.

A local farmer intervened with a tractor to pull the burning vehicle away from the truck, preventing the flames from spreading to the livestock. The driver of the Dodge RAM sustained serious injuries, while the truck driver suffered minor injuries. Other bystanders and first responders were also reported injured.

Veterinary officials inspected the pigs and determined they were not harmed. Authorities have launched an investigation into potential negligent bodily harm, and the road was closed for several hours to facilitate recovery and the transfer of the animals.
