Strabag secures second contract for A2 motorway expansion

Strabag has secured a second contract for the expansion of the A2 motorway between Warsaw and Łódź. This specific segment covers 21.8 km from the Łowicz junction to the provincial border, valued at approximately 321 million PLN.

The project aims to increase capacity by adding a third and, in some areas, a fourth lane in each direction. The expansion is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2028. During construction, temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented to maintain two lanes in each direction, and section-based speed cameras will be introduced to ensure safety.

This is part of a larger four-stage expansion project covering roughly 89 km. Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak indicated that a third contract is expected to be signed in early September, while the fourth segment awaits a court ruling regarding an appeal. The expansion is a response to increasing traffic volumes on this critical transit route, which currently sees up to 100,000 vehicles daily near Warsaw.
