Fangschleuse station opening near Tesla plant delayed
The scheduled opening of the new Fangschleuse station near the Tesla factory in Grünheide has been delayed. The station, intended to serve the RE1 regional express line, was supposed to begin operations on Saturday morning.
Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB InfraGO reported that delays occurred during the acceptance testing of the signaling and safety technology on the track between Erkner and Frankfurt (Oder). As a result, train services at the new station were expected to be delayed until the evening.
Brandenburg Transport Minister Robert Crumbach criticized Deutsche Bahn, stating that the company provided insufficient notice regarding the extension of the track closure. He described the late notification to the operator Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (ODEG) as “unacceptable.”
The Fangschleuse station is a critical transit point for the region, serving approximately 16,000 daily passengers, including many employees of Tesla’s European electric vehicle plant. An emergency bus service has been established to mitigate the disruption.
