The opening of the new Fangschleuse station, located near the Tesla plant in Grünheide, faced delays following its initial announcement. Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB InfraGO reported that delays occurred during the acceptance testing of signaling, control, and safety technology on the tracks between Erkner and Frankfurt (Oder). Although the station was scheduled to begin operations on a Saturday morning, the first Regional Express RE1 trains did not arrive until approximately 19:30 that evening.

Brandenburg Transport Minister Robert Crumbach criticized Deutsche Bahn for the delay, describing the late notification provided to the operator Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (ODEG) as “unacceptable.” He noted that the short notice left passengers stranded. To manage the disruption, an emergency bus service was established. The station, which took 16 months to construct, is intended to improve commuter access to the Tesla manufacturing site and facilitate the future use of longer trains on the line connecting Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder).
