A3 motorway accident near Schwaig involves hit-and-run driver

A serious multi-vehicle accident occurred on the A3 motorway near Schwaig between Behringersdorf and Mögeldorf on Saturday afternoon. The incident was triggered by a driver performing a sudden lane change within a construction zone, causing a chain reaction.

A semi-truck's emergency braking system was activated to avoid the vehicle, leading to a collision involving a van and a passenger car. The impact caused the passenger car to become partially wedged under the semi-truck. Emergency responders used hydraulic rescue equipment to free a driver trapped in the vehicle. Two drivers, aged 24 and 37, sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

Following the collision, the driver responsible for the lane change fled the scene toward Passau without stopping. All lanes heading toward Passau were blocked during the incident.
