A4 motorway toll booth removal delayed by legal appeal
The removal of unused toll booths on the A4 motorway between Gliwice and the Opole Voivodeship border has been delayed. While the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) selected a 7.7 million PLN bid from PORR, an appeal filed with the National Appeal Chamber (KIO) has halted the signing of the contract.
The tender aims to dismantle infrastructure at former toll collection points in Żernica, Bojków, Ostropie, Kleszczów, and Łany to restore full motorway standards. This follows the removal of tolls for light vehicles in July 2023. A broader change is expected in spring 2027 when the Katowice-Kraków section concession expires, potentially transitioning the stretch to state management.
