A4 motorway toll booths to be dismantled in Poland
The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has signed a contract to dismantle six toll collection stations (SPO) located on the Opole section of the A4 motorway. The contract, valued at approximately 4.5 million PLN, was awarded to the company Gramar.
The removal project includes developing design documentation and adjusting the motorway infrastructure to accommodate the absence of manual toll collection for light vehicles. The six stations slated for removal are located at the Przylesie, Prądy, Dąbrówka, Gogolin, Olszowa, and Nogowczyce junctions.
While the A4 section from Gliwice through the Opole region to Wrocław has been free for vehicles under 3.5 tons since July 1, 2023, the physical toll infrastructure remained in place. The removal is intended to streamline traffic flow and reduce safety risks caused by the unused structures. The transition to the electronic e-TOLL system rendered the manual booths obsolete.
