A4 motorway tolls between Katowice and Krakow to end in March 2027

Tolls for passenger cars and motorcycles on the A4 motorway between Katowice and Krakow will be abolished on March 16, 2027. Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak confirmed that the current concession agreement with Stalexport will expire on March 15, 2027, and will not be extended.

Following the expiration, management of the 61-kilometer stretch will be transferred to the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). While light vehicles under 3.5 tons will travel for free, vehicles exceeding this weight limit will remain subject to the state toll system.

The transition will also involve changes to traffic organization, particularly around the Balice and Brzęczkowice toll collection points. Additionally, new traffic connections are expected to open at the Jeleń junction in Jaworzno. Long-term plans for the route include the expansion of the A4 Krakow–Katowice section to include a third lane, projected for implementation between 2030 and 2033.
