A4 motorway tolls between Krakow and Katowice to end in 2027
Tolls for light vehicles on the A4 motorway between Krakow and Katowice are set to be abolished after 30 years. The current concession held by Stalexport is scheduled to expire on March 15, 2027.
Following the expiration, the 61-kilometer section will be managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). This transition will result in the removal of toll booths for passenger cars, motorcycles, and other light vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons, aligning this stretch with other GDDKiA-managed motorways that do not charge light vehicles.
In addition to the change in management, plans are underway to expand the route by adding a third lane to accommodate high traffic volumes, which currently exceed an average of 50,000 vehicles per day. The expansion is included in the Government Program for the Construction of National Roads through 2030, with a long-term outlook extending to 2033.
