A9 motorway near Amstelveen closed after truck overturns

A heavy truck overturned on the A9 motorway near Amstelveen on Sunday morning, causing a full closure of the highway in both directions. The accident occurred around 08:15 AM following a collision between a passenger car and the truck. The truck struck a guardrail before veering across the lanes and flipping onto its side, blocking the roadway.

Emergency services, including multiple fire brigades, ambulances, and police units, responded to the scene. Rijkswaterstaat reported damage to the road surface, a tunnel wall, and the RIMOB system. Recovery efforts involving heavy recovery vehicles and a telecrane were required, with officials anticipating the closure would last throughout the day. Traffic was diverted via the Badhoevedorp and Holendrecht junctions.
