AADE initiates process for unpaid 2021 road taxes

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is initiating a process to identify and settle unpaid road taxes from 2021. Vehicle owners who receive electronic notifications regarding outstanding debts have until October 30, 2026, to rectify their vehicle status through the myCar digital platform.

Starting October 1, 2026, a specialized application within myCar will allow owners to use their Taxisnet credentials to view debts and declare the actual status of their vehicles. This process is intended for cases where the vehicle was stolen, decommissioned, inactive, or otherwise exempt from payment. Owners must upload supporting documentation to avoid the formal assessment of debts and subsequent fines.

If corrections are not made or if submitted documentation is deemed insufficient, the AADE will finalize the assessment of unpaid taxes and penalties by December 3, 2026. This procedure excludes vehicles belonging to persons with disabilities and vehicles registered to deceased individuals, which are managed under separate frameworks.
