AADE to launch new East Attica Customs office in October 2026

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will launch the new East Attica Customs office in Spata on October 12, 2026. This move completes the reorganization of major customs services in the Attica region.

Decided by AADE Governor Giorgos Pitsilis, the new structure consolidates the functions of the Athens International Airport, Lavrio, and Rafina customs offices. Its jurisdiction covers the entire East Attica Regional Unit. The reorganization aims to manage all commercial flows and transactions previously handled by the three separate services, while increasing surveillance at logistics facilities near Athens International Airport and enhancing operational presence at the ports of Lavrio and Rafina.

The reform is built on four pillars: centralizing the operation of customs units, the holistic digitalization of customs formalities and procedures, optimizing the use of human inspection resources, and the operational implementation of the Digital Cargo and Goods Tracking System. This restructuring is intended to respond to rising commercial and passenger flows, the growth of e-commerce and logistics, and the increased demands of international air cargo and tourism, including cruise activities.
