Aaditya Thackeray denies involvement in Disha Salian death case
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has denied any involvement in the 2020 death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, following the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registering a First Information Report (FIR) in the case.
Thackeray stated on social media that he never met or knew Salian, characterizing the allegations as a “deliberate, evidence-free attempt at character assassination” driven by political and personal motives. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut also alleged that the CBI probe is a political conspiracy by the Centre to tarnish the Thackeray family's reputation and divert attention from other political issues.
The CBI registered the FIR based on a complaint by Salian's father, Satish Salian, following directives from the Bombay High Court. The FIR includes sections related to gang rape, murder, and disappearance of evidence, though it does not currently name any specific accused. The High Court had previously noted that the initial Mumbai Police investigation raised significant questions.
