AAP leaders challenge BJP over government school management

Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have issued political challenges to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the management and existence of government schools in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

In Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal challenged the BJP to provide a list of 1,000 government schools in Gujarat for a comparative inspection. Kejriwal claimed that Punjab has significantly improved its educational standing, moving from 28th place in 2022 to a leading position, asserting that improvements have been completed in approximately 19,200 out of 19,700 state schools.

In Uttar Pradesh, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that five primary schools in the Jaunpur district have effectively disappeared. Singh claimed that while these schools—including Dhalgarh Tola, Misirpur, Gagan Arjani, Urdu Bazar, and Bagh Hasin—are listed as operational on the government's U-DISE portal, they no longer exist physically as the buildings were rented and have since been reclaimed by landlords. Singh offered a reward of ₹1 lakh to anyone who could locate one of these missing schools.
