Aardman animation studio to celebrate 50 years of stop-motion
The Bristol-based animation studio Aardman will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. To mark the milestone, the Aesthetica Film Festival will host a guest programme and masterclass in York on November 6.
Founded in 1976 by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, Aardman has become a major force in British culture through stop-motion storytelling. The studio is known for iconic characters such as Morph, Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Feathers McGraw. By remaining rooted in Bristol, the studio has helped establish the city as a significant center for creative production and animation.
