Abdelatif Kherradji sentenced for domestic violence

Ligue 1 referee Abdelatif Kherradji has been sentenced to six months of suspended prison time after being found guilty of domestic violence. The ruling was delivered by the Nîmes criminal court on Wednesday, August 19.

The court found Kherradji guilty of acts involving his ex-wife that reportedly occurred on two occasions in March and May. In addition to the suspended sentence, the court ordered Kherradji to attend a domestic violence training course at his own expense and imposed a three-year ban on contacting the victim.

Kherradji’s lawyer expressed disappointment with the verdict, having argued for an acquittal. While the referee is not scheduled for the first matchday of the Ligue 1 season, there has been no immediate indication from the French Football Federation regarding a suspension.
