Abdelilah Benkirane accuses Aziz Akhannouch of financial impropriety

Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), has launched a sharp political attack against Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch. During a party meeting in Benslimane, Benkirane alleged that Akhannouch has failed to provide answers regarding a request for 260 billion centimes in public support related to a water treatment plant project in Casablanca.

Benkirane stated that the Prime Minister’s fate would be “the court and prison” unless he addresses these allegations. He further criticized royal advisors and those close to the monarchy, asserting that while Moroccans respect the King, proximity to the throne should not be used to intimidate politicians or shield individuals from political accountability or criticism.

Additionally, Benkirane directed criticism toward the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), describing it as a source of political instability since its inception. He also warned against global trends he characterized as the “predation of the poor and the vulnerable.”
