Abdelilah Benkirane criticizes Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch

Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), has intensified his criticism of Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch during political rallies in Tetouan and Rabat. Benkirane accused the current government of lacking both integrity and competence, claiming that internal disputes among ministers reflect a broader failure in leadership.

Benkirane specifically targeted Akhannouch regarding the fuel sector and a Competition Council decision. He alleged that the Prime Minister should have resigned following investigations into fuel practices, claiming that initial fine amounts were significantly reduced after interventions. Furthermore, Benkirane raised allegations concerning a desalination plant project in Casablanca, suggesting that Akhannouch sought to secure a deal worth 260 billion dirhams through improper means.

The PJD leader warned that the perceived rise in corruption and the inability of citizens to access rights through democratic channels could lead to social unrest and heightened tension within the country. He challenged the Prime Minister to respond to these accusations, stating that if he does not answer the political challenge, he will eventually have to answer to the judiciary.
