Abdirahman Abshir sentenced in Feeding Our Future fraud case

Abdirahman Mahamed Abshir, a 34-year-old man from Lakeville, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison for his role in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme. The sentence includes additional time for obstruction of justice following his attempt to tamper with a witness during his trial in February 2025.

Abshir is the 23rd individual sentenced in connection with the massive investigation into the Feeding Our Future program. Court documents indicate that Abshir and his co-conspirators fraudulently collected more than $5.4 million from a federal child nutrition program during the pandemic. The scheme involved claims that a meal site in Mankato, operated by Abshir, served approximately 3,000 meals daily to children at a local restaurant.
