Abel Ferreira faces STJD complaint after kicking microphone

The Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) has filed a complaint against Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira following a match against Mirassol in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The disciplinary action stems from an incident where Ferreira kicked a broadcast microphone on the sidelines during the 1-1 draw.

Ferreira has been charged under Article 258 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD) for conduct contrary to sports discipline or ethics. Potential penalties include a suspension of one to six matches, though the tribunal has the discretion to replace a suspension with a warning if the infraction is deemed minor.

In addition to the coach, the STJD has also summoned referee João Vitor Gobi, fourth official Roger Goulart, and VAR official Ilbert Estevam da Silva to provide explanations regarding their decision not to issue a red card to Ferreira during the game. Palmeiras has expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation, noting that the club only learned of the proceedings through the media.
