Abel Ferreira suspended for two games by STJD

The Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) has issued several rulings affecting Palmeiras. Coach Abel Ferreira was suspended for two matches following an incident where he kicked an audio capture device during a match against Mirassol. The tribunal cited unsportsmanlike conduct under article 258 of the CBJD. Ferreira, who previously faced a seven-game suspension this year, will miss upcoming matches against Botafogo and São Paulo, though he remains eligible for Libertadores competitions.

Additionally, the STJD upheld the expulsion of Palmeiras defender Arthur, rejecting the club's appeal regarding a potential identification error during the same match against Mirassol. Arthur will also miss the upcoming game against Botafogo.

In separate disciplinary matters, Santos was ordered to pay a R$ 15,000 fine after the STJD Pleno ruled that the club failed to prevent disorder, specifically regarding fans spitting on Mirassol player Reinaldo.

Financially, Palmeiras reported a deficit of R$ 32.35 million for July 2026, contributing to a year-to-date deficit of R$ 156.4 million. The club expects to stabilize its finances through player sales, including the recent transfer of Allan to Manchester City for 37.5 million euros.
