Abelardo de la Espriella recognized as Colombia's president-elect

Iván Cepeda, the opposition leader and former presidential candidate, has recognized Abelardo de la Espriella as the president-elect of Colombia. The victory was decided by an extremely narrow margin, with De la Espriella receiving approximately 12.9 million votes compared to Cepeda’s 12.7 million, a difference of less than 1 percent.

While accepting the results as an act of democratic responsibility to ensure national stability, Cepeda noted that he will not abandon allegations regarding electoral irregularities. These include claims of foreign interference, vote buying, and the use of artificial intelligence for manipulation.

Following the election, the De la Espriella administration has moved to suspend the programming of 20 ‘Emisoras de Paz’ (Peace Radio Stations). In response, Cepeda announced he will file a constitutional injunction against the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications and Inravisión. He argues the suspension violates fundamental rights to information and freedom of expression, noting that these stations were established under the Final Peace Agreement.
