The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), led by Abhijeet Dipke, has spearheaded a significant youth-led protest movement in India. While the demonstrations were initially sparked by widespread NEET exam paper leaks and recruitment irregularities, they have expanded into a broader movement addressing systemic issues including unemployment, the rising cost of living, and economic insecurity for young Indians.

The political impact of the protests was significant, resulting in the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 25. In response to the unrest, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a high-powered reform task force headed by Nandan Nilekani. The government has also increased penalties for exam leaks and withdrawn several cases against protesters following criticism of police force.

Despite these concessions, the movement continues to exert pressure. The CJP has launched an online petition requesting that the Prime Minister address youth concerns during his upcoming Independence Day address. Additionally, the CJP has extended support to ongoing student protests in Jharkhand over recruitment exam irregularities. The movement has also drawn scrutiny regarding the use of AI-powered surveillance and internet shutdowns during demonstrations.
