Abilio Brunini orders traffic fine following political dispute in Cuiabá
Cuiabá Mayor Abilio Brunini ordered a traffic fine against a driver following a political confrontation during a video recording at Praça Alencastro. The recording, which was intended to highlight the expansion of mental health services in the city, was interrupted when an individual shouted political slogans supporting President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Workers' Party (PT).
During the ensuing dispute, the driver claimed to have a mental health condition to justify using a designated parking space. Brunini demanded medical documentation to verify the claim and subsequently associated the driver's behavior with the political opposition. The Mayor instructed that the vehicle's license plate be identified and forwarded to the Municipal Urban Mobility Secretariat (SEMOB) for the application of a fine.
