Aboitiz Power expands solar capacity with Visayas farm and off‑grid school project

Aboitiz Power Corp., through its unit Aboitiz Renewables Inc., began construction in late July of the 239‑MW Luna Solar Power Plant in Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. The project, slated for activation by 2028, will raise the company's Visayas solar capacity to 471 MWp and includes a 65‑MW battery energy storage system, the firm’s first integrated renewable‑plus‑storage installation on the island.

Separately, Aboitiz Construction and Aboitiz Foundation installed a 5.49‑kWp hybrid solar system and satellite internet at Mangumihay Elementary School in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. The off‑grid school, part of the AuroraPH initiative that aims to equip 300 remote schools with solar power and digital tools, now has reliable electricity and connectivity, improving learning conditions for the local Higaonon community.
