Abruzzo cultural mission visits Toronto and Ottawa

The Abruzzo regional cultural project “Abruzzo, terra di racconti” (Abruzzo, land of stories) recently completed a cultural mission in Canada. Organized by the Federazione Abruzzese Greater Toronto and the Federazione Abruzzese Canada di Ottawa, the mission took place from September 23 to 29, 2026.

The initiative brought a group of musicians and storytellers to the Toronto metropolitan area and Ottawa to engage with local Abruzzese communities. The delegation included Manuele Filoso, Vincenzo De Ritis, Sebastian Giovannucci, Marcello Sacerdote, and Nico Ciavalini, who presented a blend of oral tradition, folk music, and traditional instruments such as the zampogna and various flutes.
